Philip & Guinevere Swan
Philip and Guinevere had been married for two years and were working in music and social work when they were inspired by stories of the transformative power of mother tongue Scriptures for minority language groups. They decided to get involved. After studying theology at Moore College and linguistics at Wycliffe’s training school, they eventually landed in Papua, Indonesia in late 2009 with two boys in tow. Autumn, their daughter, was born during language study in Java. They now live in Sentani, an hour’s drive from the Kemtuik and Nimboran’s traditional lands. Jesus said, ‘Go and make disciples of all nations’. Many Papuans don’t know Indonesian well enough to understand the Indonesian Bible. So how can they grow as disciples? Philip and Guinevere are committed to helping speakers of the Papuan Malay, Kemtuik and Nimboran languages translate and use the Scriptures in their mother tongue. You can be a part of the team by partnering with them in prayer, financial support and encouragement.
