Our beautiful centre is shared with Summer Institute of Linguistics Australia, Wycliffe office staff and permanent residents living in homes around the property. In order to maintain the quality of retreats available and as this property is shared by many, it is a requirement of all groups staying on site to abide by the following code of conduct.
- ◆The consumption of alcohol is not permitted by guests on Wycliffe property.
- ◆Gambling is not permitted on Wycliffe property.
- ◆The possession and consumption of all illegal drugs is prohibited on Wycliffe property.
- ◆Smoking is not permitted in any Wycliffe building, house or recreational area. You are allowed to smoke near the large light post at the end of the carpark away from buildings.
- ◆You are fully responsible at all times for the supervision of children connected to your event. The property has no activities to entertain children and it is strongly suggested that you provide a planned program to keep them occupied.
- ◆Areas marked in pink on the map provided are private and out of bounds, especially the septic treatment tank, the effluent pond and all workshops.
- ◆Wycliffe is a not-for-profit organisation run by volunteers and members. It is expected that the property will be left in a neat and tidy state. Additional cleaning fees may be charged to groups who fail to do so or who cause permanent damage to property (i.e broken windows).
- ◆Lost keys incur a replacement cost of $50 each.
- ◆Noise must be kept to a minimum after 10:00pm. This is to respect other groups and permanent residents sharing the site.
- ◆Cars are to be parked in the designated parking areas. Parking is not allowed on grass and access roads.
- ◆All guests are required to keep to the road leading down to the prayer chapel. Residential houses and gardens are strictly out of bounds.
- ◆In order to hire the commercial kitchen for self-catering, under most circumstances food safety and handling certificates are not required. However, we encourage safe practices be used when preparing meals.
- ◆Basic first aid kits are located in each lodge or unit’s main kitchen. For any serious injuries or incidents call emergency on 000 immediately. Also notify the duty manager on site of any incidents on the mobile number provided to you.
- ◆Both Wycliffe Australia and the hirer each have their own duty of care. A copy of a Certificate of Currency should be provided by any outside groups hiring the facility to demonstrate proof of Public Liability insurance for an indemnity of not less than $10,000,000. This ensures that the hirer is covered in case of incidences of injury or property damage as a result of your activities.
- ◆Guests are responsible for their own belongings and safety as we do not have security against external intruders or visiting guests to the site.
- ◆Our property is host to a variety of native wildlife. Although the kangaroos are cute and often looked relaxed, they are not friendly and we advise that you keep a safe distance. As we enjoy the wildlife here on site, pets are not allowed to be brought in.
- ◆There is a speed limit of 15 km/h on the grounds.
- ◆We reserve the right to ask your group to leave the site if the above code of conduct is not adhered to.
- ◆Laundry – washing machines: $2.00 per load, tumble dryers: $3.00 per load (honesty tin in the laundry).
Kangaroo Ground is in a high bushfire danger zone. For this reason guests are not permitted on the property on Code Red Days, as issued by the Country Fire Authority. In the event that a Code Red Day is issued guests will be notified immediately and a full refund will be issued. For more information please visit the CFA website http://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/
