Latest Updates from Gordon & Corry Thompson

01 November 2017

In September Gordon travelled to Papua New Guinea to supervise and run training for several ex-pats who wanted to improve their desktop publishing knowledge and skills. In particular, they wished to learn the latest software used for Scripture publishing. The course was delivered in two modules. One was self-paced learning from online content and the other was a workshop conducted at Ukarumpa, in the highlands of Papua New Guinea.

In October Gordon stayed at the YWAM Outback, just north of the Darwin CBD and participated for one week in the meetings being run at Darwin Baptist Church for the Kriol translation team. Critical decisions were being made about edits and graphic design issues for the proposed new edition of the Kriol Bible.

24 August 2017

Gordon has completed the typesetting (page layout) of the Kunwinjku Short Bible text. He is now remotely training some new people for typesetting roles in PNG in preparation for a face-to-face workshop to be held in the latter half of September.

22 June 2017

Gordon is working on the page layout (internally known as typesetting) for the Kunwinjku Shorter Bible. Kunwinjku is a language spoken by people living near Kakadu National Park. He has now completed 1,100 pages, which comprises all of the scriptural text. He is well into the author’s corrections and small tweaks suggested by the translators and is beginning work on the front and back matter.
He is also revising a course in typesetting and preparing the training materials in order to run another workshop.

05 June 2017

Gordon is currently working on the final paging of the Kunwinjku shorter Bible with Steve and Narelle Etherington. Kunwinjku is spoken by people who live near Kakadu National Park. The design phase is now complete and the routine process of building each page is well under way, with 700 pages completed thus far.

Thanks for your patience...

Waiting is hard, isn't it. But imagine waiting 2000 years for Scripture in your language! Thanks for your patience. And thanks for your generous support which will help bring the long wait to an end...
