Max & Helen Sahl

Max and Helen Sahl have served in Papua New Guinea since 1998. Max is involved in training Papua New Guineans to translate God’s Word into their heart language. He helped establish the Pacific Institute of Languages, Arts and Translation at Ukarumpa (www.pngtraining.sil.ac.pg), and is currently principal of the Institute. He oversees 15 national staff and seven expatriate teachers and coordinates courses and personnel with the aim of reaching the remaining languages in PNG that need translations. Helen teaches missionary kids (MK’s), enabling their parents to continue with the task of Bible translation. Ukarumpa International School (https://ukarumpainternationalschool.org) serves a student body of approximately 250. About 80% of the students are missionary kids representing around fifteen nationalities. Max and Helen have four children that have all attended UIS, with two of them now living in Australia.
