Michael is from Adelaide, South Australia, and met Kelly when she was visiting Adelaide on a youth group missions trip from her home in San Diego, California. Michael later moved to San Diego to work in youth ministry, and a mutual interest in Bible translation brought them together. They married in San Diego in 2003, and now have three children—Luke, Malia and Elliot. Michael and Kelly have served in Bible translation in the Mara region of Tanzania since 2007. Michael is the translation coordinator for eight languages in the region, and Kelly oversees hospitality in their project. Michael and Kelly desire to see Bibleless people groups getting access to Scriptures in the language that is most meaningful to them, and from that, to see mature disciples of Jesus Christ being made through local churches equipped with mother tongue Scriptures.
