In 1998, Mark participated in a Wycliffe mission simulation event at which he was told, ‘It doesn’t matter what you do, we can use you.’ ‘I am a dog trainer, can you use me?’ Mark asked. Despite no known need for dog trainers, Mark and Lorene became members of Wycliffe Bible Translators in 2003. Over the next ten years in Papua New Guinea, they filled roles as Lae Regional Centre Managers, Directors for Regional Centres, Port Moresby Regional Centre Manager (Lorene) and Government Relations Officer (Mark).
After serving in Member Care at the Wycliffe National Office, they have now been assigned to South Australia to represent Wycliffe as State Directors. They have a passion to seek for ‘the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest field,’ (Matt 9:37) ‘for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up,’ (Gal 6:10).
Footnote: While in Lae, Mark had the privilege of assisting the Lae Police Dog Squad, proving God can indeed use a dog trainer in cross-cultural service!
