Joyce's House
Project 4509
Joyce started working in translating the Bible into the Teop language when her husband asked her to join him. Shortly after that, he passed away and Joyce almost quit, but with some encouragement she persisted with it. Today she continues to work on the translation with translation advisor, Julie MacKay.
Like London Bridge, we could say that ‘Joyce’s house is falling down.’ It is in quite a state, with the stumps being all on an angle and having supports on them to stop the house from completely falling down. Joyce would like to deconstruct her current house and build a new one. The new one will be on a concrete slab rather than on stumps because she doesn’t want to have to deal with stairs as she gets older.
Some materials from the old house may be able to be reused, but there will be a lot of things to buy too, and Joyce doesn’t have the money to build the new house. Joyce would be very thankful for any contributions to help with the cost of building her new house.

Pastor Napoleon, cluster language worker, Cameroon
God was raising up Pastor Napoleon for language work before we, Bruce and Kathy, ever went to Akwaya area in Cameroon in 2007. Once we made the connection, Pastor Napoleon completed a four-year B.A. in Bible Translation and returned to his local area in 2015 to work full-time with us. He is the mobiliser and facilitator for the cluster of four Tivoid languages, with work as diverse as mentoring chairmen, telling Oral Bible Stories and assisting with linguistics. We praise God for him!
Karen Hopping LASI Ministry
Through Bible-based literacy training, Solomon Islanders are empowered with the skills and passion to see their people changed through the gift of reading and by the power of God’s Word. Karen Hopping has been asked to train up a whole local literacy organisation in this curriculum before she leaves at the end of 2018.
This member project specifically supports the costs of the June 2017 training workshop.
