Wycliffe Australia's Current Projects

Joyce's House

Project 4509

Joyce started working in translating the Bible into the Teop language when her husband asked her to join him. Shortly after that, he passed away and Joyce almost quit, but with some encouragement she persisted with it. Today she continues to work on the translation with translation advisor, Julie MacKay.

Like London Bridge, we could say that ‘Joyce’s house is falling down.’ It is in quite a state, with the stumps being all on an angle and having supports on them to stop the house from completely falling down. Joyce would like to deconstruct her current house and build a new one. The new one will be on a concrete slab rather than on stumps because she doesn’t want to have to deal with stairs as she gets older.

Some materials from the old house may be able to be reused, but there will be a lot of things to buy too, and Joyce doesn’t have the money to build the new house. Joyce would be very thankful for any contributions to help with the cost of building her new house.
